The short video clip show below was taken at the "Don Valley Art Club" this evening.
The Tuesday evening group of portrait painters hosted an evening to celebrate the Art and Life of a man and fellow artist that touched many people's hearts and souls. I was honoured to organize and act as master of ceremony for such a special person. It turned out to be a wonderful evening. Everyone brought food to share, helped set up, decorate and put away everything. Many people brought paintings they owned that George had painted and portraits painted of George by fellow members The majority of the evening was spent with friends sharing different special memories of George. This clip features Robert Callaghan, playing a special tribute to George with his beautiful harmonica playing and a quick view of everyone there and samples of George's paintings. I didn't do a great job on the video but worth sharing anyway. With lots of Love George. Carole

Dear Ms. Robbitaille, My family have been friends of George Shane's since 1954. I grew up with George as a close family friend and we have been in touch all my life, on my last visit to Toronto in 2009 I found George was making plans to sell his home 5 Butternut and move to a retirement home, then due to his increasing disability he became unable to continue our corespondence by PC keyboard and I lost touch with him. I retired to the Philippines in 2011 and had heard nothing since. I gather he has passed away since then and I'm only seeking closure on my lifetime friend, could you put me in touch with some one who could tell me of George? He was a most wonderful man and his talents were many

George was my grandfather Paul Shane's brother—and I never got to meet George, that I can recall, growing up in Winnipeg. I ended up going to art school, then becoming a graphic designer. I wish I had found out about him and had the clarity to contact him while I could. But I can learn about him from what's been documented online. Any correspondence is appreciated: my website graphicmaterial -dot- com has my contact info, I'm just keeping it off this site to avoid spam.
