Statues in Creemore8/9/2014 Last Friday I went to Creemore with my friend Pat V and my great niece Alysha. We spent the afternoon painting outside of St. Lucas Church. A beautiful old church with stain glass windows imported from England and an beautiful old pipe orgran. I was fortunate to be invited inside to see how beautiful it was. I painted the front entrance of the church. Pat painted a garden at the back corner. Alysha painted the front and also an old bench in the back garden. It was a beautiful day. The scenery was wonderful during our journey and Creemore was a lovely little town. This slideshow is a collection of some of the sculptures we found. My favourite were the children playing around a water fountain.

Dance in Motion - Blue Flight oil pastel3/23/2014 This is another painting in my series of dancers in motion. The paintings are inspired by attending dance recitals that my great niece, Alysha, dances in. Alysha loves dancing and has been learning many types of dance techniques at "Traditions Academy of Dance" in Whitby, On. r They have an annual recital that Alysha has the opportunity to perform on stage.
The dancers at the recitals and competitions are beautifully dressed, at many different levels, and all trying hard to show their best dance. The colours are bright, the motions are swift and flowing. I have been attempting to be more free and abstract with my paintings. On these paintings I use Sennelier oil pastels and tried to capture the feelings, movements and flow of the dancers, instead of concentrating on details and photo realism. I won a Special Merit - juror's award for this one. There are more of these paintings shown on my blog further below on this blog.
"Ballerina Dance of Colours" by Carole Robitaille - DIgital Art
This is a digitally enhanced photo of young ballerinas performing in a dance recital. I isolated some of the ballerina images from the background, moved the images over in 3 layers. Also changed the colouring of dresses, made layers a bit transparent, enhanced the colour saturation, and finally added a watercolour filter. I loved the effect of the layers with the softness of the dancers in motion. I have set up a new web page - "Digital Art". I have place several pctures there that were taken from photos taken at my great neice's dance recital at Traditions Dance School. Alysha was dancing in several dances and they were beautiful performances. The photos were taken without flash and were able to catch the movements of the dance. Please click here to see more of the pictures. This is just a small sample. Please contact me if you are interested in prints. Carole RobitailleCAROLER'S ART DIARY Categories
