This painting is done with acrylic paits on 16 x 20" canvas. I wanted to caputre one of my favourite type of fall tree settings. Birch trees are my favourites so they had to be in there. I was going to put some symbol in greyish area of lost branch on largest tree. I decided to wait for buyer to advise what initials or symbols are to be carved onto this tree. Price for orginal is $588.00. Digital canvas print with custom initials or symbol added $188.00 Cdn.

This painting started off with acrylics that were allowed to run and took shape wth each layer. The dark indigo shapes reminded me of people so I started outling the people to help give the effect of memories of different visitors to a park.A lesson about life in the workings of a painting. see below paintingThis painting went through many changes. Starting with a lot of the background leaves being red....Far too busy.
So I turned most back to green and simplified the background shapes. Later I added a thick bodied pale yellow to the front leaves to give more punch and texture. Many other changes, esp. in water. I struggled with how the reflections and shadows should appear and the movement of the water. My sister Claudette came by and suggested more darkness in the water and more rocks and stepping stones along the shore. Big improvement. Looked much more natural and the water came more to life. So its a good reminder that there will always be a lot of changes before things get better and we need some of the darks and rocks along the way to bring out the beauty in life. Lynde Shore Conservation in South Whitby is a beautiful area for a lot of water fowl and other birds and wild life. Some of the trees have fallen over the water and create great perching and hiding areas for the birds.
