Caroler's Blog
This past year seems to have been a difficult year for many people I know.
Some physically, some emotional, spiritually or financially. Time for new, time to refresh, time to purge and restart. Clearing the old year along with any tensions and troubles. Bring on a new Year full of love, joy, happiness, good health, prosperity and good fortune. All the best to my family and friends and all those I may encounter along my path of life.

DVAC AND OPERA YORK PORTRAIT SESSIONS 212/17/2014 Last night was the 2nd in a series of portraits being done at the Don Valley Art Club on the singers of a upcoming production of "The Magic Flute" by Opera York. This production is to be held at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. Last night's singer/model was a tenor in the upcoming opera - RICCARDO IANNELLO
It was a great night for painting and seeing so many friends and fellow portrait artists from the club. Below, please see the different stages of the portrait I completed. To see other versions and pictures of the artist doing the portrait, please go to - http://www.caroler.ca/art-shows-and-club-events.html Tried out Mono Printing12/11/2014 Went to the club last Monday, to sell my painted cans to friends there and was fortunate to have joined them during their Christmas party. They kindly shared their festive goodies with me and Theo shared her printing plates and paints with me so that I could give mono printing a try. I didn't do the best of jobs but totally enjoyed the day and trying the printing process out. I hope to go another time soon to try the silk screen process also.
Thanks everyone in the Monday printing group. Results of craft show.12/7/2014 Our craft show and sale did not turn out as well as expected. Despite our efforts and advertisements, we only had probably only 20 to 30 people show up.
If anyone has any suggestions of future craft shows that draw in large amounts of customers and offer low cost table rentals I would appreciate the information and contacts. Portrait of Gary Relyea - Opera singer11/21/2014 The pictures below are from a portrait session at the Don Valley Art Club in a project to paint portraits of the singers from Opera York's upcoming production of The Magic Flute. First session is of Gary Relyea.
Gary Relyea who has sung for the Canadian Opera Company as well as Opera York. Gary is a tall, distinguished-looking baritone who could easily double for Don Quixote. He will be singing the role of Sorastro in the Magic Flute. Part of invitation to the artists of DVAC from Frank Pasian regarding a series of portraits as per below.... "In March of 2015 DVAC portrait painters and Opera York will collaborate to mount an exhibition of portraits at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. The exhibition will coincide with Opera York's production of The Magic Flute. About 6 of the lead singers will be invited at different times to the DVAC studio on Tuesday evenings or Sunday afternoons depending on the performers' schedules. Artists are invited to paint portraits during these 3 hour sittings and submit their work to a committee that will select approximately 30 portraits to be hung for the show. Most likely 4 portraits of each singer will be selected. The opening of the Exhibition will be early evening of Saturday, March 7, 2015. A performance of The Magic Flute will begin the same evening starting at 7:30. The Exhibition will run until the end of March."
