Went to High Park this morning to check out the cherry blossom trees. It was a bit too early. The trees are in early budding stage. I think it will be another week or two before the trees are in full bloom. It was still a beautiful fresh day to be in the partk.
I had thught of possibly raising money by painting flowers on small stones and rocks. The idea that people can make up a bouquet of individual stone/rock flowers. Mixtures of different flowers or all of the same type in small groupings to make up a bouquet. Arrangements can be designed, photographed to show best set up and all sent out in a box or container or stone holder if desired. People can buy one to many to make up a bouquet. Additions made at any time. Stones/rocks are prepared with a base coat and then painted and when completed, spray varnished several times or if for out doors - painted varnish with UV protection. These were painted on small river rocks. Samples shown below.... Click once on image below to enlarge and allow you to click easily to each image.
Fellow artist shown in images have permission to save a copy for themselves. Caroler It was a fantastic day today. Started off by watching my great niece, Alysha, perform her first competitive solo dance performance. I was very proud of her and her performance. Then I went to the Art Guild of Scarborough Spring Show (details below) where I was presented with an award for my painting "Trilliums of Trail's End" gouache Then a good friend, Pat Vicari, purchased the painting. It was also wonderful to see so many friends and members from the Don Valley Art Club showing up at the show. From there I went with my friends Patty and Linda to see the musical "Rock of Ages" at the Sony Centre. A very lively and uplifting show. After the show, we went across the road to Fran's for supper Too cute5/30/2012 What a beautiful day out there today. 23 C.
Looking forward to meeting some friends, from my old company , for supper tonight. Trillium4/16/2012 This is a small oil pastel painting 8 x 11. I painted it from a photo I took on Manitoulin Island, spring. I seem to have a special love for spring flowers. Such colours and beauty as a cycle starts again.
