Gary Relyea who has sung for the Canadian Opera Company as well as Opera York. Gary is a tall, distinguished-looking baritone who could easily double for Don Quixote. He will be singing the role of Sorastro in the Magic Flute. Part of invitation to the artists of DVAC from Frank Pasian regarding a series of portraits as per below.... "In March of 2015 DVAC portrait painters and Opera York will collaborate to mount an exhibition of portraits at the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. The exhibition will coincide with Opera York's production of The Magic Flute. About 6 of the lead singers will be invited at different times to the DVAC studio on Tuesday evenings or Sunday afternoons depending on the performers' schedules. Artists are invited to paint portraits during these 3 hour sittings and submit their work to a committee that will select approximately 30 portraits to be hung for the show. Most likely 4 portraits of each singer will be selected. The opening of the Exhibition will be early evening of Saturday, March 7, 2015. A performance of The Magic Flute will begin the same evening starting at 7:30. The Exhibition will run until the end of March."
